AKRacing Overture Series

If you’re looking for an affordable gaming chair that does the simple things well, then The AKRacing Overture Series is a great option.

It’s sensible really, trimming the features down allows  AKRacing to lower the price, bringing the chair to an audience that has a tighter budget. It’s also a relatively new chair which means that it has all the little design adjustments that AKRacing have learnt over the years.

It means you end up getting an attractive chair, often discussed as an elegant chair that is a good fit as a gaming chair and in a home office. Looks matter and in that department, the Overture Series really delivers.

A chair that does the simple things well

Compared to other chairs, the Overture is a more subtle series name, more akin to something from music than the high octane motor sport world, like the Nitro series.

This is a slimmer chair than standard, which helps to give it that sleek elegant look. What it gives in design it probably limits in terms of larger gamers, having to squeeze into a slightly slimmer chair.

AKRacing make some sensible choices. The armrests are 1D which will matter if maneuverable armrests are important to you (for most people it’s not) yet they keep the back and neck pillow. In fact, unlike many other chairs in the price range the cushions come as standard rather than an accessory.

Another strong selling point is the accessibility of the chair for a larger gamers. Apart from it being a little bit of a squeeze, thanks to the quality of the materials used, the weight limit for the chair is 150kg.

The reclining backrest can be angled from 90 degrees to 180 degrees. Additionally the chair has some rocking functionality, upto 12 degrees which is pretty standard for decent chairs.

Design Alternatives & Original Accessories

We like the variants of the Overture series. There’s something for everyone with seven different variations on offer: blue, green, orange, red, white, yellow and indigo. With a great design the colours are in the trim and help to give the chair character.

I like that the trims are different from chair to chair so the style and look changes too. On top of the colour variants, AKRacing offers plenty of accessories to cherry pick from. You could get the standard spec or you good upgrade the armrest pads, with 3 other variations. You can even extend the gaslift by a further 2cm for taller gamers.

We are big fans of the AKRacer Rollerblade Casters. They really make a difference in terms of both smoothness and noise, perfect if you’re gaming at night and don’t want to disturb anyone you’ll appreciate the difference.

Overture Series Size Guide

Pretty much across the board, AKRacing is a generous chair. It is pretty much one of the most accommodating chairs for gamers of all sizes. It’s ideal for gamers of 170cm to 190cm in height. With the upgraded gaslift add another 6cms to that.

As we’ve mentioned already the weight limit is a cool 150kg. That’s pretty much every gamer. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that it’s slimmer than the average chair and that affects the overall gaming experience.

The most important thing to remember is the price point. This chair doesn’t compete with a premium chair but when compared with other chairs at this price point it does excellently. You’ll struggle to find better a chair. The design, comfort and overall experience makes this a great chair and if you like the elegance of the chair, you can do a lot worse.
